Translation
while:while连接的时间状语从句可以表示
某个动作正在进行的同时,另一个动作也
在进行之中。

cooking.

listening to music.
我在做作业而他在听音乐。
2. Ben’s dad was putting pieces of wood over
the windows while his mom was making sure

make sure:
to find out if sth is true or to check that sth has
been done
“(把某事)弄清楚;确定;查明”,后可跟
that从句。
1) “Did you lock the front door?” “I think so,
but I’d better make sure.”
“你锁前门了吗?” “可能吧,我还是最好去确
认下。”
2) Emma peered into the room to make sure
that Ruth was asleep.
